Troy McCarty, the owner and director of White Cloud Studios encountered the world of Pilates while working as a professional dancer in New York City in the 80’s and has been doing Pilates ever since. In 1992 Troy opened Cleveland’s first Pilates Studio, the White Cloud Studio in Lakewood. Now with two other studios in Chagrin Falls and Cleveland Heights, White Cloud has been changing bodies in Cleveland for more than 20 years. Our studios feature the most up-to-date equipment and the environment is non-competitive, enabling you to find a true balance of mind and body. Fresh spring water is always available to keep you hydrated and refreshed.
The focus of Pilates is strengthening the body’s core muscles - the muscles of the abdomen, back and pelvic regions- Every movement in Pilates has a purpose. Through exercises performed on an intelligently designed machine called The Reformer, movement relies on your own body strength, proper alignment, and careful technique. Tendons, Joints and muscles are not only protected from immediate injury, but are strengthened to prevent future injury. You take with you an increasing economy of ease, form, and body awareness, which is the 1st step towards correcting the postural misalignments that frequently contribute to chronic back pain.
Your experience starts with 3 private sessions mainly on the reformer with a coach who has been highly trained and certified in the method. Your coach epitomizes the concept of Pilates with an extraordinary capability to make each exercise simple, functional and core ambitious. Once you are finished with this series the choice is yours. You can move into a group class or stay with your privates. Even as you continue your training, an instructor is always present to monitor and gently correct positions as you progress through your sessions.
